A note regarding QLD YOUTH SHAKESPEARE
FESTIVAL:

“Our revels are now ended.” - The Tempest

To our most wonderful Shake Fest community of past, we wish to inform you that Shake Fest in its current form has come to an end and will not be occurring in 2026.

Whilst parting is such sweet sorrow, we wish to acknowledge all the many creative students, teachers and mentors who have made Shake Fest something worth missing.

Shake Fest has always been a culmination of the things Shake & Stir hold dear: creativity, collaboration, and quality theatrical experiences. Over the years we have been astounded at the talent, the originality and the passion that have trod the boards of the Shake Fest stage.

As the curtain closes on Shake Fest, we know that nothing can stop the creativity in QLD classrooms and Shake & Stir are committed as ever to bringing theatre to you, wherever you are!

About

ABOUT SHAKE FEST

For over a decade SHAKE FEST has provided a unique opportunity for students across QLD to focus their artistic abilities in an all-inclusive creative celebration of the works of William Shakespeare. SHAKE FEST is the original cross schools festival dynamically connecting students, schools, and industry through Shakespeare.

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1: Get inspired and enrol your school!

Step 2: Get creating and submitting!

Once teachers have enrolled their school, students can select from the different categories to prepare their own take on Shakespeare's work! Students submit their work digitally for review from our adjudicators.

Categories include:  MONOLOGUE // DUOLOGUES // SCENES // DANCE // MUSIC // DESIGN // PHOTOGRAPHY // FILM

Step 3: Feedback

Once reviewed, your students will receive feedback on their submissions to help them on their creative journey. Selected students will be invited to the State Showcase at the beginning of Term 4, allowing them time to adapt their piece for a staged live performance.

Step 4: Show and celebrate!

The State Showcase is our two-day extravaganza to applaud QLD student’s creative work. It begins with a full day of free workshops where students can hone their skills and forge friendships with like-minded students across the state.

The following day, participants will showcase their work for parents and friends.
